Lack of research, poor editing, and long-windedness makes this tiresome. At first the plot stretches plausibility only slightly, before reaching absurd lengths - billion-pound companies, modern vernacular, and anachronistic medical advances. Not to mention secondary characters who behave in a manner completely at odds with what would have been the convention at the time. And really, a fifteen year-old budding horticulturalist, “Mr. Fitzgerald”, who is aware of what “chi” is, and is paid at a rate of 500 pounds a year to be an assistant gardener. Fate Plays Dangerous Games Regency Romance Mornington Park Book 1 edition by K E Chaloner Danielle Maait Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I truly enjoyed this story. The characters kept me engaged in the storyline. I didn't want to put the book down.
K E Chaloner takes you on a journey you don't want to end. Rich and vivid, I throughly enjoyed a genre I don't normally read, because she took me there with her words.
This was a fantastic journey into another time with a wonderful cast of characters. There are some beautiful descriptions and turns of phrase that really transport you to the Duke's castle and you feel a part of the family. As the tension amps up towards the end it was really a hold on to your hat and cancel your plans kind of ride. Really well done.
